Google integration is great, turnitin, Evernote. There are platform-wide public groups that help trouble shoot things that come up and where you can get resources. The groups are pretty cool, you can build virtual plcs at your site, or with people from other sites, organize/share resources, have ongoing threads, etc.

I can put an update our and know students and parents get notifications through app. The communication functions with students, parents, school, other teachers are great. You can also combine discussion boards across courses, or say, with a school in a different country. The feedback you give students appears next to their assignment in their gradebook view so they can act on it. You can also do badges and set completion rules to create a sort of gamification effect. When you score work across all of those functions it automatically enters into common gradebook. I use it to do benchmarks that mimic the SBAC stuff our kids have to do here. It does assessment of drop box type assignments, but also discussion boards and it has great objective/subjective quiz functionality. Schoology does curriculum creation, organization, sharing, archiving. GC organizes student drives effectively, and manages the handout/hand-in process effectively but only for google docs. GC comes nowhere near the level of functionality schoology offers (even the basic version). I have used schoology for 2 years at secondary level, but also had a pilot section on Google classroom (GC) last year.
